The 2019 experimental activity is about to start at SINTEF SeaLab in Trondheim!

Eggs of cod (Gadus morhua) and haddoc (Melanogrammus aeglefinus) will be exposed to fine mine tailings to find out how early survival and development may be affected by the release of mine tailings to the marine environment.

PhD-student Linn has come from Bodø to assist in the experimental activity. Her main task is to measure oxygen consumption in exposed and unexposed larvae to see if their metabolism is affected during mine tailing exposure.

Cod egg form a previous experiment. The larvae are clearly visible inside the transparent eggs.
